It has a wall sink next to the toilet, an old tub and a towel rack. There is no room for a counter or any kind of storage. Movie Star and I have made it work, however I am constantly trying to update and change it to make it more manageable, better looking and easier to live with. I thought maybe some of you might have this same predicament, so here is what I have been finding that inspires me to pretty up the john.</div><div><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 300px; height: 400px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEii_3j6X4RBfdr39EAA0wS2V6y2t_4eU147JTIrtv0NCZg2jirlpxCLneqO8LJdMH9yjt9djUM7mzmIp9zbNjkEPKGOBwsNsSPdLyryA66KdqaRhnTM-zpp5WoVqGyijR48AJiPNRp4mOU/s400/Bathroom+Drawer-Shelf.jpg" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5582295217397134178" /></div><div>Seeing as how I'm all about DIY and repurposing new things, this idea fits me to a 'T'. Take a drawer from a dresser you are about to junk, or head to a garage sale or thrift store and pick one up! Better Homes and Gardens suggests cutting a piece of plywood to nail inside as a shelf . Then install a couple of eye hooks with a rod through it to give yourself a towel rack. And don't forget the hidden gems like the wallpapered backdrop and hook hanging from the shelf for bath accessories. Just be sure to paint the whole thing to match your decor.</div><div><img src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhLhertsNmaa2mgo6vg2VxwHISXvwwonvl-kxh1-VntUiQO8vr0CjqHcfjQci3i0ixdAb9RAVivyJ9NvT3wxRt9E-w0NwxlzBv1GVUVfxyO0eBR7NO60snaPMcP3GamSFvVD7wHZb-O11E/s400/Bathroom+picture.jpg" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5582300479029823058" style="display: block; margin-top: 0px; margin-right: auto; margin-bottom: 10px; margin-left: auto; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 300px; height: 400px; " /></div><div>If you need just a little something to perk up your pee space, just slant a picture against the wall and you're all "perked" up. Just make sure you secure it to the wall or the toilet. You wouldn't want to be sitting there and have the picture slide down the wall just to jolt you in the back now would you?</div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: rgb(0, 0, 238); -webkit-text-decorations-in-effect: underline; "><img src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiQOjuFqksA0M01M8gltpBjgtmBf9ltr9ENVfFmhfUGsTBSnkksV01T03G-9u31hbw8uu3836-7w3MnAvQ20TFAsWxdSl3hZjDXA-6QrZGVdSJdefkgt7luFbpj3ZxY1Hio2INrAaW5m84/s400/Bathroom+sink+storage.jpg" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5582303855133982690" style="display: block; margin-top: 0px; margin-right: auto; margin-bottom: 10px; margin-left: auto; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 300px; height: 400px; " /></span><div>The thing I need in my bathroom more than anything is storage. When I found this idea I squealed "Eeeekkk!" with excitement. My sink looks a lot like this just without the extra room on either side of the sink top. But I adore the idea of a simple wire shelf hanging down below. I could put so many necessities there! And there is even enough room below the shelf for a lovely old trash can. Plus, this arrangement has a towel bar that would help me save valuable wall space.</div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: rgb(0, 0, 238); -webkit-text-decorations-in-effect: underline; "><img src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjI69jLQCKpUxs8bctXSQtQpaEdczRDacXKkhWF3evLwgPXLtNCH1IXufAr6iSCMEf-9cimGy9LUVQO7pWJNqlx8z1pIPonLVvVqkOkqHUYakGKanvQbPq_SnNSY9LUpWlFP2GoUtPwyvw/s400/bathroom.jpg" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5582306645126281314" style="display: block; margin-top: 0px; margin-right: auto; margin-bottom: 10px; margin-left: auto; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 300px; height: 400px; " /><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0); ">A sink without a counter makes getting ready in the morning extremely difficult. You may not know this about me, but it is totally and entirely true. I have far too many books completed or ever on-going as well as an entire cabinet in my hallway filled (and I do mean <i>filled</i>) with supplies. Photographs make my heart flutter with excitement and I love putting the memories I create on pages to mull over on those days when life feels sad and overwhelming.</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div>Now to the craft you came for! While I was looking for inspiration on turning my recent dull-drum pages into awakening breath, I came across something that I've seem before but never actually done: use fabric! I have not created these beauties yet myself, but I just thought I would pass them along to any of you other ladies (or gentlemen) who love scrappin' your memories and might need some creative encouragement to keep at it.</div><div><br /></div><div><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 400px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj9jfLm2dE621fXm23knfgkOH9ipjpXa6HU8FFMrdjshDjzrtEwbgQeg8ALYYrU3GKLR5OXBsbJBX_PgYcNoDRMHKt_4J1svIkjHaQ7yPV-x8m4WLLp4GrB2lMtpsw4y5lQf4NNO-iHuJ0/s400/scrapbooking+roses.jpg" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5581859313309364162" /></div><div><br /></div><div>This page is from Elizabeth Kartchner from <a href="http://www.elizabethkartchner.blogspot.com/">Dear Lizzy</a> (who by the way is gorgeous!). As you can see she has a fabric strip stitched across the pager but the most wonderful bits of fabric on this page are the roses. Though you can purchase them at <a href="http://www.twopeasinabucket.com/shop/on-sale/?avad=28837_f174696d">2 Peas in a Bucket</a>, I think I could make these little cuties myself. </div><div><ol><li>Take your fabric and cut a thin strip and twist.</li><li>Roll your twisted fabric around in a spiral, making it look like the above picture.</li><li>Use a glue gun to attach it together, then plop a button or a gem on top to finish!</li></ol><img src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgB9L_AKawP8YF2zBVUkOnxCIm-foBoHxnO4bfSjtp02TpLxdEj-RDuoVi0vn4n7Lf0sm_GPUpBRflo5TGu08ARBRtbVzp7XRz6vzm03-I-klKOwyBgmMVJ8VDlnUPwMM9JSE0PWmhZ8m8/s400/scrapbooking+fabric+flowers.jpg" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5581861258733495170" style="display: block; margin-top: 0px; margin-right: auto; margin-bottom: 10px; margin-left: auto; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 400px; height: 400px; " /><div><br /></div><div>This one is from <a href="http://emiscrapbooking.blogspot.com/">EMI Scrapbooking</a>. I loved it because it is simple and easy but will give your page a much desired lift in life. Obviously, you would need a piece of fabric with an embroidered image or words as they have with this lovely flower, but if you embroider yourself them go for it! Then you will need thread and green fabric strips as well as buttons and paper or fabric flowers.</div><div><ol><li>After attaching the pre-embroidered fabric on your page, move on to the flowers!</li><li>Take some white or ivory embroidery thread and work a simple straight stitch down a piece of thin green fabric.</li><li>Attach to your page.</li><li>Stitch (or glue on) your flowers and buttons to the page and walla! You're done.</li></ol><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: rgb(0, 0, 238); -webkit-text-decorations-in-effect: underline; "><img src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgOKraef74h5T41zzXniozGW0M-R_42IEISbQLXTv9z85sMsvoiKp44BE0EsH9-_tEsgraVVmoCE7qydJ0kHze8aCHKcfkeEPo4Cx5gkBul1Ky-xzQNLYfojb0M0WJf2TTvhA3H2VklxkI/s400/scrapbooking+fabric+strips.jpg" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5581863904426982226" style="display: block; margin-top: 0px; margin-right: auto; margin-bottom: 10px; margin-left: auto; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 400px; height: 390px; " /></span><div>This last one is too easy for words. But I'll try. Thank <a href="http://studiocalico.typepad.com/">Studio Calico</a> for showing us how three simple pieces of uncoordinated fabric can turn your plain jane page into a fun surprise!</div></div><div><ol><li>Choose your fabric. I thought it would better if I did it anyway as I am the single one among the three of us. I've never done anything like this before, but after a conversation I had with one of my friends last night, I thought I'd give it a shot. Here is my high list of requirements a man must fulfill in order for me to marry him, not really in a particular order.<div><br /></div><div><b>I: Thou shalt beith independent</b></div><div><span class="Apple-tab-span" style="white-space: pre; "> </span>This means so many things, but I only take it in the most basic sense. He must be independent from his family. I don't mean he should be estranged from his family. I only mean that he shouldn't live at home or need to call his parents or siblings for every decision in life. He should only need to confer with them for the big choices. He must also be independent from his friends. Again, not saying he shouldn't be close, but he needs to be strong enough not to have to act a certain way with them or be intimidated to differ from them about anything, which also means he shouldn't be afraid to say what he thinks. Lastly, he must also be independent of me, to an extent. I am the last person in the world that can handle someone being dependent upon me. One guy tried it once, and he learned very quickly how I couldn't bear a weak or needy guy. Basically, he should just stand on his own two feet and act the same around his friends, family and me. This is critical as we are the people he's closest to in his entire life. Call me crazy, but I thought this one of the most defining traits of men in general. In LA, I've discovered this is not the case, and I can't say enough how disappointing it is to me.</div><div><br /></div><div><b>II: Thou shalt beith intelligent</b></div><div><span class="Apple-tab-span" style="white-space: pre; "> </span>This is a given, but if I'm going to marry someone, I'm going to marry my equal. I couldn't last with someone less intellectual than I am for a day, or I should say he couldn't last with me. I can be friends with people less intelligent, but marriage is combining with the other perfect half that fits you. We can have intelligence in different areas and our brains may function differently, but we need to be able to keep up with each other or it will just feel like a school counselor with a one-child remedial class, and no relationship like that can last.</div><div><br /></div><div><b>III: Thou shalt havith ambition</b></div><div><span class="Apple-tab-span" style="white-space: pre; "> </span>Going back to the man-child discussed in requisite #1, my husband must break away from the teenage tendency to not want to do anything, usually because he has not outgrown that phase, which is probably because his parents didn't really help in this department. I'm not demanding that he aim for an executive position in some office occupation or start his own business, but he must have something driving him toward something good. He doesn't have to have a college degree or be after making as much money as possible, but I don't want to date a guy whose ambition is trying to make store manager. I don't like that guy for several reasons. I'd be happy with him earning a low or decent wage at a non-profit organization or as a teacher or numerous other things as long as he's not, pardon me for lack of a better word, a tool, and is happy doing something not only for his own gain, but for the better. This could mean working at an ordinary job and using time and money for this true passion, but no matter what, he is pursuing it.</div><div><br /></div><div><b>IV: Thou shalt be funny</b></div><div><span class="Apple-tab-span" style="white-space: pre; "> </span>I can't be close to someone that doesn't have a sense of humor. I think most people feel that way. There's no joy in that and it's too difficult for me not to make fun of things. If he can make me laugh, I'll never get sick of him.</div><div><b><br /></b></div><div><b>V: Thou shalt not called after my brethren</b></div><div><span class="Apple-tab-span" style="white-space: pre; "> </span>I don't think this crosses many people's minds, but I just can't fathom dating anyone with the same name as my brothers. It's too weird. It's weird just meeting someone that can be considered attractive that has their names. It makes me shutter. There are boundaries you just don't cross. Luckily, one brother is named after my dad, so there are only two names for me to avoid. Sadly though, they have the common names of Jake and Tim.</div><div><br /></div><div><b>VI: Thou shalt love all animals</b></div><div><span class="Apple-tab-span" style="white-space: pre; "> </span>I love animals, probably because I grew up with so many. But, I also grew up with a dad that didn't really like them. So, I've seen what life can be like with someone that's not an animal lover. I think most guys do love animals, though. I mean, most single guys that live by themselves have a dog.....or a cat, because they need some constant companionship. Basically, I'm always going to have animals, so he needs to want this, too.</div><div><br /></div><div><b>VII: Thou shalt not beith a homebody</b></div><div><span class="Apple-tab-span" style="white-space: pre; "> </span>Someone that sees this is going to know exactly what I'm talking about ;-) That's a little bit where I got it from, but not entirely. I like to hang out at home, but when I can, I generally like to do things. I don't look at leaving the house as 'only if I have to' or 'there's something I really, really want', unlike some people. I come and go freely not thinking 'gee, now that I'm doing this, I don't get to lounge at home'. Plus, I love to travel. He must be wanting to venture places, because it is quickly becoming my favorite thing. I've done study abroad programs in Europe the last two summers and I plan on going back again with a friend this summer. Plus, I have friends wanting to visit LA for the first time and I have a few other trips planned as well. He must be up for these things. This could mean going to San Diego, New York or Dublin, or having fun showing people around town here. For our traveling, I'll negotiate when and where, but he cannot be wanting to be at home and definitely not whining about it. If you're lucky enough to travel, you better be happy.</div><div><br /></div><div><b>VIII: Thou shalt be able to dress thyself</b></div><div><span class="Apple-tab-span" style="white-space: pre; "> </span>Maybe I should have one of these requirements to be mature, but I think it's too broad. One thing that bothers me is guys that can't dress themselves properly. It's as if they have no idea what matches or any clue as to what style they're attempting. They may also wear the same thing over and over. Sometimes they literally wear the same articles of clothing over and over until they have to wash it. Basically, they look like a giant thirteen year old, completely awkward and unaware of what they are doing wrong. Yes, this can be remedied, but it's more difficult than it sounds. You don't want him to just follow fads or look like someone that he's not, because that could end in Ed Hardy, neon colors or an attempt at a J Crew ad. It would just be easier if he already had this figured out, but if not, he must be willing to change his wardrobe.</div><div><br /></div><div><b>IX: Thou shalt not want to livith in thy city permanently</b></div><div><span class="Apple-tab-span" style="white-space: pre; "> </span>I am originally from just outside Chicago, but I grew up mostly in Colorado. I spent the majority of my adolescent years in a tiny mountain town, and I loved it. Yes, there wasn't much to do, but we made our own fun. And after hearing stories from my friends who have grown up in LA, I now have no doubt I had more fun and overall better childhood. My husband must want to move to a small town, and before we're forty-five.</div><div><br /></div><div> </div><div><b>X: Thou shalt beith easy-going</b></div><div><span class="Apple-tab-span" style="white-space: pre; "> </span>I'm a very laid back person and I don't think the notion of opposites attract applies to me. I can't handle those who are high-strung, self-centered or anyone that is polarizing in any way for long periods of time, because at some point I will put them in line possibly causing them to have some sort of rude awakening, panic attack or just simply cause them to hate me. I also have qualms with people that complain constantly out of habit. Besides, as a man, I think you should be in control of yourself in this capacity.</div><div><br /></div><div><b>XI: Thou shalt not playith video games often</b></div><div><span class="Apple-tab-span" style="white-space:pre"> </span>I think this also goes along with maturity. I generally hate video games. There are some exceptions such as Mario Kart, 007, Paper Mario and Wii Sports. These are mostly short games where you play against other people as just one way to have some fun. This does not entail playing them everyday in three to eleven hours stints. I can't have a serious relationship with anyone who has video games as priority in life. </div><div><br /></div><div><b>XII: Thou shalt beith handy</b></div><div><span class="Apple-tab-span" style="white-space:pre"> </span>Part of being a man is the ability to take care of his home. I'm not saying he has to be an expert and be able to fix anything that breaks, but he needs to be able to do basic things such as changing car oil, laying kitchen tile or stopping a roof from leaking. I just can't see a guy as manly if he can't put together patio furniture or is lacking fundamental knowledge of tools. </div><div><br /></div><div><b>XIII: Thou shalt beith a Christian</b></div><div><span class="Apple-tab-span" style="white-space: pre; "> </span>I'm saying for the sake of my family. Just kidding. For obvious reasons, it's what I know is right and if we match on this, we will match on every important level. </div><div><br /></div><div><span class="Apple-tab-span" style="white-space:pre"> </span>I'd like to think that the list is not too demanding, yet weeds out some prospects. The great thing is now I have something to direct a guy to for future reference rather than having to explain this time and time again ;-)</div></span></span></div></div>Clairehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13424819524217161766noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6792278881950550341.post-70422320142897134432011-03-08T09:00:00.000-08:002011-03-08T09:00:09.072-08:00Pretty Thought of The Day<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiww-OWnssAAs83GovqNggkUMBqj0A5vJs6y_y1dCBtIpPmGcm4UFpVesXDgiW4Y3EYNYkjQooJ6T2KaWjOyS90Ym93ZZLI-0kmSBsirlYx4K7XLuoFmcVwf1PZ1PPGolKawWA58iWmfF7Z/s1600/kids-hugging.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; cssfloat: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" l6="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiww-OWnssAAs83GovqNggkUMBqj0A5vJs6y_y1dCBtIpPmGcm4UFpVesXDgiW4Y3EYNYkjQooJ6T2KaWjOyS90Ym93ZZLI-0kmSBsirlYx4K7XLuoFmcVwf1PZ1PPGolKawWA58iWmfF7Z/s1600/kids-hugging.jpg" /></a></div><br /><br /><br /><br /><br />It is a blessing to be surrounded by nice things, but an even greater blessing to be surrounded by nice people.Bonniehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17848734591554952489noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6792278881950550341.post-17037600227507450322011-03-05T11:47:00.000-08:002011-03-05T11:49:48.544-08:00Featured Wedding of the Week: Simple Kiwi VintageSo this week, I simply did not feel like putting words down. I don't know what it is, but to me pictures speak more. As you may <i>not</i> know, I love New Zealand. Never been there but desperately want to. Movie Star has been obsessed with the Lord of the Rings trilogy for years and years and so I've watched them far more than I'll admit to you. What I did not expect to come from my many hours of Frodo and the ring, was my own obsessive love for the landscape. The rolling green mountains with just a smidgin of fog floating by sends my heart aflutter. So, I have been searching for a Kiwi wedding lately with the same gorgeous mountains in the backdrop. However, in my search I could not find one. Though I did come across a simple vintage wedding (my fav!) from the northern New Zealand island of Tauranga. I think after peeking at their day, you'll see why I like it. But I'm still looking for that special wedding.... so if you know of one or yours is one, <a href="http://inspiringpretty.blogspot.com/p/contact-us.html">email us</a>!!<br />

It's probably because we live in a house that is getting too small for our ever expanding family. And for reasons that are much too boring to get into, we will be here for at least a little while longer. Finding organization in our chaos is a way for me to take a little bit of control of the situation. And finding quirky, stylish storage solutions is a way to make me feel like a happy mama bear. And who do I turn to for aid in a crisis like like this? Well you know it's gotta be Etsy. Here are a few storage finds that rocked my socks.<br />

Depending on your taste you could leave it brown or paint in to match your color scheme. I would like to get 3-4 and arrange them on a wall. The vintage lover in my tummy just jumped up and did a jig. This is just most <a href="http://www.etsy.com/listing/66540484/vintage-hinge-and-typewriter-key-coat-or?ref=cat2_gallery_22">clever little hook</a> idea. What room can't use a little hook or two. I need one in my kitchen for aprons, in my hallway for keys, in my bathroom for hair ties...need I go on. You could really use it anywhere, but---as you may have figured---it would fit most seamlessly in a home office. Or even a craft corner. It sells for $20.Bonniehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17848734591554952489noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6792278881950550341.post-76849724110072435662011-03-02T10:51:00.000-08:002011-03-02T10:51:58.501-08:00It's Been A Long, Hard Day<div style="text-align: center;">I just want to sit down with my sippy and relax.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiDmtMYxD-wZZ0mlaFi29XfnOYEXUd8GZ2tsWwlOIUqpPNi-mUa9tqlfqY93yFcCb5D3jyHSkwhFkUmcji8CRmG2Tu6wN-DJJQyqVzYMXPIFuDn3lbd6-wme_uZPpYrCJzgT-MbAzCXXxGH/s1600/silly+ave.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" l6="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiDmtMYxD-wZZ0mlaFi29XfnOYEXUd8GZ2tsWwlOIUqpPNi-mUa9tqlfqY93yFcCb5D3jyHSkwhFkUmcji8CRmG2Tu6wN-DJJQyqVzYMXPIFuDn3lbd6-wme_uZPpYrCJzgT-MbAzCXXxGH/s320/silly+ave.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>Bonniehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17848734591554952489noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6792278881950550341.post-52956623226722693542011-03-02T05:00:00.000-08:002011-03-02T05:00:20.333-08:00Handmade Wednesday: Fabric BookmarkWell, the day has finally come. Perhaps you guessed it. The day when I actually came up with a craft and made it myself! And here I am sharing it with you. How fabulously creative of me. I have always been a rather crafty person but have lacked the time and financial resources to make my own wonderful concoctions. So, I hope though I have not -in the past- been making the crafts I share here, that you can find it in your heart to forgive me and follow me as I begin a new journey of creating pretty things to inspire my life and yours.<br /><div><br /></div><div>This weeks handmade beauty was<i> actually</i> inspired! I have been in the mood for reading over the past few months. This is a new and noteworthy time in my life since I have never ever ever been a reader. Obviously, I can read so let's get that right out of your minds -I am writing here!! But as a child reading was so monotonous and boring to me that I just could not stand the thought of having to pick up a book. Even if it was <i>suppose</i> to be good. This terrible -in my opinion- habit has carried over well into my adult years. But as of late, this strange and insatiable desire has cause me to find myself at many a book store and library, wondering just what I was doing there. Okay, okay, so I'll get to the craft already. But I just had to preface this craft with a bit of a story. I am just so excited about this!!! Can't you tell? Needless to say I am reading and realized I have no bookmarks! I hate folding corners of pages if the book does not belong to me and so I decided to make one. And here it is:</div><div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh1VURNI16j5AOTVsgbkh4DmGNguIYjv7QYtHs1TBi3IL1EXW7eF2oEakYc7FCVoVuNXKdVhyphenhyphenXkg1E6jCHxNVOHhhml-mJBzR4E2quEiHW-y4uqXDg94D6yjkEw1O2I4RG7PUa2BmQxjE7i/s1600/Bookmarking+materials.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh1VURNI16j5AOTVsgbkh4DmGNguIYjv7QYtHs1TBi3IL1EXW7eF2oEakYc7FCVoVuNXKdVhyphenhyphenXkg1E6jCHxNVOHhhml-mJBzR4E2quEiHW-y4uqXDg94D6yjkEw1O2I4RG7PUa2BmQxjE7i/s320/Bookmarking+materials.jpg" width="320" /></a></div> I started with the only vintage-ish <a href="http://inspiringpretty.blogspot.com/2010/09/handmade-wednesdays-mouse-pad.html">fabric</a> I had, flipped it to the wrong side giving it a more worn appearance and cut two pieces for front and back. Cutting them 7' x 3' will give you room for sewing as well as a little edge when you're done. I also recommend using a piece of cardboard or sturdy poster board in between your fabric sheets to help the bookmark maintain it's sturdiness. I cut that piece to 6' x 2'.<br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgvxyWyhqtOVJxHtPI0mwvgjc6oY9-Ch4mtnIJQXTf-47rYTGM4G6wosbG5FPriFHJ53Qgsit82ZVNVAhbLeeY3xhCVwAeM-Zu1Gy3pGUfx25TKda8i6guRZo3P2eb1oDK4w3HILzroBTBP/s1600/Bookmarking+Strip.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgvxyWyhqtOVJxHtPI0mwvgjc6oY9-Ch4mtnIJQXTf-47rYTGM4G6wosbG5FPriFHJ53Qgsit82ZVNVAhbLeeY3xhCVwAeM-Zu1Gy3pGUfx25TKda8i6guRZo3P2eb1oDK4w3HILzroBTBP/s400/Bookmarking+Strip.jpg" width="300" /></a></div>I wanted a piece of fabric down the center of the bookmark for writing a word or just a little depth and color change. All I had was some ivory ribbon so that had to do! As you may notice in the picture, I sewed the two pieces of floral fabric together on one side. You don't have to do this to start, I just did so that I could be sure of the exact location my ribbon would go (based on the threading).<br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEirSwqNXNQaaRoeFGBLuZfqdkorRFmnFm5-6vLAsyYV9Kf0iJBy4yY36zPtHVNpXERYNwuBumMlHqBnuBcxYL4aO8fWIBluYRHL8SrmiXODzLBrFkCJWpZUiJEO4YCuUr2QbvnseoLawhyh/s1600/Bookmarking+with+ribbon.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEirSwqNXNQaaRoeFGBLuZfqdkorRFmnFm5-6vLAsyYV9Kf0iJBy4yY36zPtHVNpXERYNwuBumMlHqBnuBcxYL4aO8fWIBluYRHL8SrmiXODzLBrFkCJWpZUiJEO4YCuUr2QbvnseoLawhyh/s320/Bookmarking+with+ribbon.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">Next, I wanted to add a bit of interest to this bookmark of mine by adding a little more <a href="http://inspiringpretty.blogspot.com/2010/12/5-ways-to-make-gift-wrapping.html">ribbon</a> off to one side. I will be adding more detail below but wanted to make sure this pretty green thing stayed in place, so I hand stitched a quick thread through to attach it.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhSdEZUjsvnyg5QVpb6oGdg_l5XY8Eu9lfTnLQ3PwfNrCMH3ENGXGD0MuILXT0t2R6ggMVCfWzRF_UQsW0srqy0fuK3mfxCIdLzKOvnlzSPjpOm11kfWM7MyZBSr6BJtvpXjJStJ71Var41/s1600/Bookmarking+Threading+Button.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhSdEZUjsvnyg5QVpb6oGdg_l5XY8Eu9lfTnLQ3PwfNrCMH3ENGXGD0MuILXT0t2R6ggMVCfWzRF_UQsW0srqy0fuK3mfxCIdLzKOvnlzSPjpOm11kfWM7MyZBSr6BJtvpXjJStJ71Var41/s320/Bookmarking+Threading+Button.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">And here's that detail I promised you! I have a ton of silk flower arrangements that I never use and so I stole one itsy bitsy baby flower from one of them and took any plastic remnants off so that it would lie flat. Of course it was a tad tired looking and I have half a drawer full of buttons, so I thought one would be a nice touch. If you don't like the button idea, scrounge around your home for things you can use. Seriously! That junk drawer can be a crafters treasure trove.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgcbTla7JpI6XvfhTwpmbz8xVC_LEIF8_ntcK0kqvulTjlo1m9sQVtNvHZ_Ul8peo6JfJIA2W3wXG9SbKqLI6lKKoRgR4kqCepi1Zs1ir0b5Q8P8LngapDCda1yqslh9d2vW7PLzhir19Me/s1600/Bookmarking+Sew.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="311" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgcbTla7JpI6XvfhTwpmbz8xVC_LEIF8_ntcK0kqvulTjlo1m9sQVtNvHZ_Ul8peo6JfJIA2W3wXG9SbKqLI6lKKoRgR4kqCepi1Zs1ir0b5Q8P8LngapDCda1yqslh9d2vW7PLzhir19Me/s320/Bookmarking+Sew.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">This is just a photo of my sewing on the ol' machine. I threw it in here for fun and to see what my Finepix S1000 is capable of. Not much, unfortunately. I love <a href="http://inspiringpretty.blogspot.com/2010/08/right-wedding-photographer-makes-all.html">photography</a> and would die for a better camera! This one will have to do....</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh8M2XXrqQxT2ThShv8H17x186p9etn7CGCw-t82cn4jAGqd_VlmcFDPxmX5PTmV8D5Ys0CP8Pvlb67EQdcHxGj3qZLlmKn7D6yiZQFN6cYKBa3vmhk2KTaeTAyd4f5Iw6iuFyXOyMKthT0/s1600/Bookmarking+Ribbon+Tab.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh8M2XXrqQxT2ThShv8H17x186p9etn7CGCw-t82cn4jAGqd_VlmcFDPxmX5PTmV8D5Ys0CP8Pvlb67EQdcHxGj3qZLlmKn7D6yiZQFN6cYKBa3vmhk2KTaeTAyd4f5Iw6iuFyXOyMKthT0/s400/Bookmarking+Ribbon+Tab.jpg" width="300" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">Lastly, you will probably want to add some sort of tab to your bookmark to help you open your book and see where you are. But it's not completely necessary. This is your bookmark and your craft. Be creative with it!</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhFXDXoSJkQRqYGmqT3NQWlsvTZIP3Qew3iGVlwwMa17lluKzjE3vC-i4fKUzN_f2AL6EmpWx-0NPN18RngMR1PG04EfwhXSiqFnTYfC89Gy24tfd4LNG8LQndaGdL6FQhZp2-c01Ohe2ir/s1600/Fabric+Bookmark.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhFXDXoSJkQRqYGmqT3NQWlsvTZIP3Qew3iGVlwwMa17lluKzjE3vC-i4fKUzN_f2AL6EmpWx-0NPN18RngMR1PG04EfwhXSiqFnTYfC89Gy24tfd4LNG8LQndaGdL6FQhZp2-c01Ohe2ir/s400/Fabric+Bookmark.jpg" width="300" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">And walla! I wanted to do so much more, but with limited resources at home and a wallet that I've had to hide from myself in order to be able to pay the bills, this is what came out. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEibpNCogB4IFNIBGtjOoXL3_3vG2U59SEJ41Dkao9FjulIbwdV2X1n6EKcMizEHaf52UpQQWyoqwf9n8nu6jHMyH2Alcft4FnfJSy1_paw9ZyFuJ1Iz3dMzTQORBLqSOZwN1F6YYcKEoLlJ/s1600/Bookmarking+Captivating.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEibpNCogB4IFNIBGtjOoXL3_3vG2U59SEJ41Dkao9FjulIbwdV2X1n6EKcMizEHaf52UpQQWyoqwf9n8nu6jHMyH2Alcft4FnfJSy1_paw9ZyFuJ1Iz3dMzTQORBLqSOZwN1F6YYcKEoLlJ/s400/Bookmarking+Captivating.jpg" width="300" /></a></div><div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">And right along side is the newest book I have been unraveling, <i>Captivating</i>. It is a book about women and who <a href="http://inspiringpretty.blogspot.com/2010/11/what-is-your-box-of-cookies.html">God</a> created us to be. The Eldredge couple has written this book for anyone of any age and gender, for <a href="http://inspiringpretty.blogspot.com/2010/12/10-greatest-true-romances-throughout.html">both sexes</a> need to understand each other. I am only a few chapters in, but loving every page of it. I plan on passing it along to my husband Movie Star when I'm done. Then I'll pick up <i>Wild at Heart</i> (it' their book on men...) I am also considering blogging my way through this book because so many feelings and discoveries have been coming up. Would you all like that? Let me know.</div></div><div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br /></div>Lindseyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08655911333907697884noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6792278881950550341.post-55288530405130250292011-02-28T05:00:00.000-08:002011-02-28T05:00:17.005-08:00Most Original Wedding Invitations<div style="text-align: left;">Weddings are elegant affairs and can be done many different ways and several motifs. They often follow similar patterns, though. Many people want to stick by what is beautiful, which is why many weddings are alike. There's obviously wrong with this at all, but some people want to be original and the first element that shows this is the invitation. The invitation is meant to just give the basic information and invite the guest in a way that's as welcoming as possible. Here are some awesome ways to do it that you probably haven't thought of yet.</div><div style="text-align: left;"><br /></div><div><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiDHmAhTViyWI_7TIgytvRW3hdPx1PgZUuLBSiXrvGQXGSqf8bvo_mWv37Qj_6gz7H6rtXzSHOVIEwSqBTF3CFDRHyNMNGkitBH-7E2VeCmOaMU7XjOtPjYVK9SVB6YnptAbjKOyDm0PbE/s1600/papercut+wedding+invitation+on+pink+card.jpg"><img src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiDHmAhTViyWI_7TIgytvRW3hdPx1PgZUuLBSiXrvGQXGSqf8bvo_mWv37Qj_6gz7H6rtXzSHOVIEwSqBTF3CFDRHyNMNGkitBH-7E2VeCmOaMU7XjOtPjYVK9SVB6YnptAbjKOyDm0PbE/s320/papercut+wedding+invitation+on+pink+card.jpg" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5578642540224905506" style="display: block; margin-top: 0px; margin-right: auto; margin-bottom: 10px; margin-left: auto; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 320px; height: 240px; " /></a></div><div><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiDHmAhTViyWI_7TIgytvRW3hdPx1PgZUuLBSiXrvGQXGSqf8bvo_mWv37Qj_6gz7H6rtXzSHOVIEwSqBTF3CFDRHyNMNGkitBH-7E2VeCmOaMU7XjOtPjYVK9SVB6YnptAbjKOyDm0PbE/s1600/papercut+wedding+invitation+on+pink+card.jpg"></a><div style="text-align: center;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size:x-small;">photo courtesy of madebyjulene.com</span></div><div>One invitation for those who appreciate originality while still maintaining elegance and a classic feel is the paper cutout. I love it for its ornate intricacy. This invitation is so detailed that it goes beyond design into art. If created on sturdy enough paper, the cutout can stand alone. If done on paper of regular width, it will need to be attached to a piece of paper. This can be great though, adding color and more design to your invitation. I love that the invitation is pixelated just a nintendo video game invoking nostalgia once again, for the true gamer of course. What truly makes this vintage though is the 'Insert Coin?' line on the left of card, bringing you back to the olden days of arcades. I love this one, because it brings back childhood again, and I'm not even a big video games fan. </div><div><br /></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: rgb(0, 0, 238); -webkit-text-decorations-in-effect: underline; "><img src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi1Y0uj7qQ6d7HchjsrY6hVjZXJceshKHhSntCEeTwldWlRoIYpwsro2fEuNs8fIH4qiQSoT1-iwp9EMBdi90CUh6ONdU7AFCFc-ABRcwzwdL60DJ23GRAXlSLbJL0ZN7u5UK5oE2NLBkk/s320/chocolate+bar+wedding+invitation.jpg" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5578652106487943410" style="display: block; margin-top: 0px; margin-right: auto; margin-bottom: 10px; margin-left: auto; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 320px; height: 240px; " /></span></div><div style="text-align: center;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: rgb(0, 0, 238); -webkit-text-decorations-in-effect: underline; "><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0); "><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size:x-small;">photo courtesy of qualityjunkyard.com</span></span></span></div><div>This one is for the cook, food aficionado or just those with a sweet tooth. Instead of sending one piece of paper, this invitation is a small deck of custom playing cards with bits of information on each card. A great way to employ the deck to the fullest would be to use the number cards to give out the date, ceremony time, address and other things like this. And a cute idea that was used in example above, is use the heart cards of the deck :-)</div><div><br /></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: rgb(0, 0, 238); -webkit-text-decorations-in-effect: underline; "><img src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEioiH8UZ2KODdvf2X0OlGb3_K7DEZNWN1Az4-Rt-6hQQzK0sKsLef0YvOrFDWArslHL979xOKTAnwE94au2WxV1WiwyOjGAYzDcMG0X6l3aTKX4D1Yh2zd_go3MRARpsFp4nScuVFc5tWs/s320/movie+ticket+wedding+invitations.jpg" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5578656526067233074" style="display: block; margin-top: 0px; margin-right: auto; margin-bottom: 10px; margin-left: auto; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 320px; height: 212px; " /></span></div><div style="text-align: center;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size:x-small;">photo courtesy of ioffer.com</span></div><div>A cute idea that is perfect for those using certain motifs is event tickets. This is broad idea too, so it can work for themes relating to movies, plays, carnivals, or just a party (reception) in general. Using an actual ticket for admission isn't used much anymore now that you can print tickets on printer paper, use a confirmation number, or just have a barcode scanned on your iphone. This will bring back a fun, vintage feel and can be very elegant if done well. You can even collect the stub at the door to have even more fun and to keep out the wedding crashers ;)</div><div><br /></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: rgb(0, 0, 238); -webkit-text-decorations-in-effect: underline; "><img src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhAVrOM7i-5ghepS5MxSy8rBxFBPDxnd9V9HcX8Wi2KM165bgTBvec-OiXThi5-g6dAE0wvfr17cKfz-WNyLTQSroZ4ImXamnj6T25sljk53tjiElX-zlEzWo9Tt1tbilS-_PNEskVvR70/s320/Comic-book-wedding-invitations.jpg" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5578658466448763618" style="display: block; margin-top: 0px; margin-right: auto; margin-bottom: 10px; margin-left: auto; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 212px; height: 320px; " /></span><div style="text-align: center;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size:x-small;">photo courtesy of gizmodiva.com</span></div></div><div>Another one for the nerdy couple is comics books. I love this, for the reason that you can probably guess. That's right, because it's retro. It's perfect for those who love comics or just something from a bygone era. I love the detail on this one as well, with the ceremony date listed as the issue date in the top lefthand corner. The cool thing about this one is that there are thousands of covers you can get inspiration from. </div><div><br /></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: rgb(0, 0, 238); -webkit-text-decorations-in-effect: underline; "><img src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjNqeLwowJl58E86zdralf9f6y_7-tiUuuhQg1krsPu3Q1aExyOp8LvgGtXce9zB-JWYjuuFisZsZf-3dTtttxGPbAvNU4XgRgKeJx9b4L1Cn92qyvaBSZBvUsZc7_AzzlyK5tohPBKQYQ/s320/puzzle+wedding+invitation.jpg" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5578661030727611874" style="display: block; margin-top: 0px; margin-right: auto; margin-bottom: 10px; margin-left: auto; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 320px; height: 223px; " /></span></div><div style="text-align: center;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size:x-small;">photo courtesy of weddinginvitations21.com</span></div><div style="text-align: left;">This is a great idea if you want to surprise your guests with your invitation. Just send a bag of puzzle pieces for guests to put together for a little bit of fun and the pleasant surprise of a wedding invitation. Who wouldn't love to get a surprise like that in the mail?</div><div style="text-align: left;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: left;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: rgb(0, 0, 238); -webkit-text-decorations-in-effect: underline; "><img src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhTCiHvBZgrVClgJAzfBcoSnfbkIkX9HPnKNEDnNEzmKS9qTD4fqVEKah5KwEEVBLuY6DGP39f-qgqBrEIQoa0Bx9uvtHPsZVHoDoO0HTPxzMc_6Wi9d0Qle9aqWGMphgNDTxv4N7Jec4M/s320/tin+can+wedding+invitation.jpg" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5578662750297678034" style="display: block; margin-top: 0px; margin-right: auto; margin-bottom: 10px; margin-left: auto; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 320px; height: 271px; " /></span></div><div style="text-align: center;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size:x-small;">photo courtesy of lovelypackage.com</span></div><div>I've saved my favorite for last. This the coolest wedding invitation idea I've ever seen. With this, you mail the wedding invitation to your guests in a tin can. The tin can will need to have a small hole in the bottom. When they open it up, guests will find the invitation, string and instructions. They will now use attach the string to the tin can and tie it to the newlywed's car on the day of the wedding. The instructions will them know just how to do it and you will be sure to have enough tin cans to bring some wind resistance to your car. This is a cute way to incorporate the age-old tradition of tin cans on the back of the newlyweds' car and involve your guests in the festivities. It is traditional and original, which is hard to do and you're sure to not come across another couple that has already done it.</div></div></div><div><br /></div><div>Invitations are the first impression of your wedding to your guests, and originality can go a long way. Common wedding invitation patterns can be work, but guests won't know what they're in for exactly. An original invitation will most likely give them more of a sense of what's in store. Have fun with your invitations whether they're customary or original and make sure each of your personalities show.</div>Clairehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13424819524217161766noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6792278881950550341.post-8372322534765517382011-02-26T05:00:00.000-08:002011-02-26T05:00:01.752-08:00Featured Wedding of the Week: Desert BlissAs I was scrounging for a wedding this week, I kept coming across gorgeous weddings with beautiful photographs but they all began to look the same. But it's very hard for me to look at weddings these days without wanting to share all of them. The reason? I want to re-do <a href="http://inspiringpretty.blogspot.com/2011/02/featured-wedding-of-week-mine.html">my own wedding</a> because I wasn't overly pleased with it, so how can I look down on any of these? In comparison to mine, they are all far too perfect. I know, I'm way to harsh on my special day. But aren't we all? Maybe not.... maybe I'm alone here. Hello!..... <span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: small;">hello</span>.....<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: x-small;">hello. </span>Wow, I guess I am. Oh well!<br />
<div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: medium;"><br />
</span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: medium;">That w</span>as a long segment just to bring me around to the fact that I found a wedding that (to me) seems outside the ordinary or commonplace for weddings today. I continuously see vintage or country style weddings (which I love), but the simple, modern wedding has been recently hidden on the shelf. So, when this little beaut popped up on my screen I knew I had to have it! And as you'll find, this oh-so-chic wedding find itself smack dab in the middle of a desert.</div><div><br />

But occasionally there is a seller or two who may have too much time or 'creative energy' on their hands. Every third page or so I always seem to come across something that makes me think, 'What were they thinking on this one?' Well, I've had an attack of conscience for my mean thoughts (and I'm a little low on material), so I am going to do a little brainstorming for some of Etsy's extra creative sellers. Below are a few seemingly useless Etsy products and a few innovative ways to use them.</div><div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj5PW3au3L4NZtgNfVTGOvfUICVlr7_MGzh7-ka5eE7Yxg5-J4VZQ01ibUGUbo2c7jstgzW2Fx_BFgmjBrY6PGB_0Z12ZXBMu63qdM4L5Bj1CcZ0_hlZC9GoRoIcFXJeWbSKym_EH8H-TN8/s1600/weird1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" l6="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj5PW3au3L4NZtgNfVTGOvfUICVlr7_MGzh7-ka5eE7Yxg5-J4VZQ01ibUGUbo2c7jstgzW2Fx_BFgmjBrY6PGB_0Z12ZXBMu63qdM4L5Bj1CcZ0_hlZC9GoRoIcFXJeWbSKym_EH8H-TN8/s320/weird1.jpg" width="272" /></a></div><div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;">First up is an <a href="http://www.etsy.com/listing/21387079/olifant-steampunk-gas-mask-in-black">Olifant Steampunk Gas Mask</a>. Now there were a lot of items that I toyed with using from this seller. In the end, I went with something that you could get the most use out of. This mask would be great to wear when you are trying to get someone to see things your way. Like if you have to go talk to the kid down the street about bullying your son. Even if you ask nicely, this mask will guarantee that your kid will not have anymore problems. You could also use it to get people to evacuate an area of your choosing. No one will think twice about running in the opposite direction. It sells for $3900, but can you really put a price on peace and quiet?</div><div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiO13oOZPK3Y3iBxsKW_uinptmz7nBWZtiExgKgPSbqylxmvNbUTZxG0YeZpZZJtWjSejuaxyK6r19TVb2fzu5AIWqpsW-S0gWZB4_b4VCW4zpPyYRKaYdORXBydBEjZPtHk2m_0ZTkBAUp/s1600/weird.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" l6="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiO13oOZPK3Y3iBxsKW_uinptmz7nBWZtiExgKgPSbqylxmvNbUTZxG0YeZpZZJtWjSejuaxyK6r19TVb2fzu5AIWqpsW-S0gWZB4_b4VCW4zpPyYRKaYdORXBydBEjZPtHk2m_0ZTkBAUp/s1600/weird.jpg" /></a></div>At first glance <a href="http://www.etsy.com/listing/23054705/clem-the-sock-monster">Clem The Sock Monster</a> seems like a waste of cash at $25, considering that you can get a regular (ie: better looking) sock puppet for like $10 at Target. But the advantage that Clem has is that he looks very much like a real sock, so he can be used in a real sock situation. If you have a roommate who is always leaving their laundry in the dryer, try hanging Clem inside from the top to freak them out when they stick their head down there. Alternatively, if you have kids, you can use Clem as your bad cop. That way Clem does all the dirty work and everyone still loves Mom. Your kids may think oddly of you as they get older though.<br />

Which is why the ring seems like it would serve no purpose. But baked in that creme-filling, is a recipe for revenge. Innocently wear this ring to your arch rival's next Weight Watchers meeting and it will guarantee that she has a bad points week. Or wear it to work when your annoying co-worker hasn't quite gotten over the flu. Or bring it to the park and palm it to tease the kid who pushed your toddler off of the slide. This handy little ring gives you 100% satisfaction with none of the mess, and for only $9.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiAnJzMx1NF64AnHMfcFyU0GqYQS0IgDFmzNJqFyX2cVqkraxtF7jzSOqN9zmwDsuKkO0VLm_uHxun9wkVWi9-7wRENrvw6BuMixzF9AY4REqfj8Tme7i2eLO7rumTK5VbNDYIJ84i-BTWS/s1600/weird3.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" l6="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiAnJzMx1NF64AnHMfcFyU0GqYQS0IgDFmzNJqFyX2cVqkraxtF7jzSOqN9zmwDsuKkO0VLm_uHxun9wkVWi9-7wRENrvw6BuMixzF9AY4REqfj8Tme7i2eLO7rumTK5VbNDYIJ84i-BTWS/s320/weird3.jpg" width="231" /></a></div>It is hard to imagine a situation in which one would require needlework brain matter, especially enough to drop $25 on it. But I have come up with a few. Say your roomie, or sibling, is in the early stages of a relationship that you don't approve of. Casually sneak this jar into their room and the next time you get the chance to chat up the prospective partner mention something like, 'And don't worry about the brain in the jar, it's not going turn into the real thing no matter how many spells he/she chants around it.' Or you could give it as a gift to a certain someone in your own life who just won't take the hint. Chances are they won't be trying so hard anymore. <br />

It can break your bank and expose you to unnecessary amounts of chemicals. I believe in keeping it simple and cheap. No need to go shopping at Macy's, Bare Minerals or any of these stores, just head to the grocery store with a $20 bill to get the same effect. I've compiled a few beauty recipes below, but there are a plethora more that are just a search engine click away.</span></div><div><b><br /></b></div>Brown Sugar and Honey Facial Scrub</b><div><span class="Apple-tab-span" style="white-space: pre; "> </span>This is probably my favorite one. Brown sugar exfoliates the skin ridding the pores of all dirt, oil and dead skin cells causing blemishes. Honey is naturally antibacterial, so as the brown sugar cleans out the pores, the honey cleans out the sources for this build up to prevent future break outs.</div><div><b>Coffee Grounds in Conditioner</b></div><div><span class="Apple-tab-span" style="white-space: pre; "> </span>This one is really simple. Instead of throwing old coffee grounds away, toss them into your conditioner to make your hair extra shiny. That's all it takes!</div><div><b>Replace Conditioner with Vinegar</b></div><div><span class="Apple-tab-span" style="white-space: pre; "> </span>To get rid of the usual problems with hair: build up, dullness and just lack luster, replace your conditioner with vinegar 1-4 times a month, depending on your own hair. Just use it as you need it. And don't worry about buying the best stuff for the best results, common white vinegar will do the trick as well as any other vinegar.</div><div><b>Olive Oil as Hair Moisturizer</b></div><div><span class="Apple-tab-span" style="white-space: pre; "> </span>It's easy to see how oil can moisturize your hair. It's simple to use it as well. Simply cover your hair in olive oil and leave it in for 30-45 minutes. You can also wrap it in plastic wrap to keep it from dripping and some believe it enhances the effect.</div><div><b>Lemon and Egg Facial</b></div><div><span class="Apple-tab-span" style="white-space: pre; "> </span>Have red splotchiness on your face? Soothe both symptoms away easily by mixing together one egg yolk and the juice of one lemon into a paste. Cover your face with it and leave it on overnight. If this seems like too much work, leave it on your face for an hour. You might not get the optimal results with this, but you will see a difference.</div><div><b>Replace Conditioner with Baking Soda</b></div><div><span class="Apple-tab-span" style="white-space: pre; "> </span>Want to be more like a guy and only use one thing to clean your hair? Then just add baking soda to your shampoo. It will remove build up and make hair shinier, and you can use it everyday.</div><div><b>Degrease Oily Hair With Lemons and Aloe</b></div><div><span class="Apple-tab-span" style="white-space: pre; "><span class="Apple-tab-span" style="white-space: pre; "> </span>M</span>ix together 1 tablespoon of lemon juice and 1/2 teaspoon aloe vera. Mix it together with a normal serving of shampoo. It will get rid of your oiliness in one shower.</div><div><span class="Apple-tab-span" style="white-space: pre; "><b>S</b></span><b>mooth Fizzy Hair With Honey</b></div><div><span class="Apple-tab-span" style="white-space: pre; "><span class="Apple-tab-span" style="white-space: pre; "> </span>A</span>dd a tablespoon of honey to a litre of water. After shampooing, rinse your hair with this concoction to tame your frizz.</div><div><b>Replace Face Wash With Skim Milk Powder</b></div><div><span class="Apple-tab-span" style="white-space: pre; "> </span>Switching face wash out with skim milk powder can make your face much softer and give you a smoother complexion. It's also very gentle, so even the most sensitive can use it.</div><div><b>Moisturize Skin With Honey and Olive Oil</b></div><div><span class="Apple-tab-span" style="white-space: pre; "> </span>Honey holds moisture extremely well and olive oil hydrates well, too. Mix equal parts of olive oil and honey and add a dash of lemon juice if you'd like to create a pasty lotion. Rub it onto the dry skin and let it sit for 10-20 minutes. Your skin will be hydrated for plenty of time to come afterwards.</div><div><b>Soften Skin With Oatmeal</b></div><div><span class="Apple-tab-span" style="white-space: pre; "> </span>There are many concoctions and mask recipes that involve oatmeal, but you can use oatmeal by itself to help your skin. Ground up about 1 cup of oatmeal using a blender or coffee grinder, and add it to bath water to soften skin to baby-like quality. </div><div><b>Treat Choline-Damaged Hair</b></div><div><span class="Apple-tab-span" style="white-space: pre; "> </span>Mix together 1 egg, 2 tablespoons of olive oil and 1/4 of a peeled cucumber. Cover you hair with the mixture and leave on for 10-20 minutes. You'll see your hair return to normal almost immediately.</div><div><b>Tone and Rebuild Skin With Avocados and Carrots</b></div><div><span class="Apple-tab-span" style="white-space: pre; "> </span>This recipe can work wonders. Combine 1 avocado, 1 cooked carrot, 1/2 cup heavy cream, 1 egg and 3 tablespoons of honey. Leave on for 10-20 minutes and then rinse. These ingredients add a multitude of vitamins, antioxidants and calcium to rebuild natural collagen, tone skin and remove age spots. There is plenty to read about the benefits of each of these ingredients, but all you need to know is that each natural element does more than any store-bought item can. </div><div><b>Lemons or Oranges for Fine Hair Hairspray</b></div><div><span class="Apple-tab-span" style="white-space: pre; "> </span>Use Lemons for dry hair and oranges for a stronger hold. Chop up the entire piece of fruit in a bowl as to not lose any juice. Boil the fruit with 2 cups of water until soupy or when the liquid has been significantly reduced. Strain through a cloth and put into a spray bottle. The citrus will hold the hair and not damage it due to the fact that there is no alcohol.</div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="white-space: pre; "><b>Apple Cider Vinegar for Cleanser and Toner</b></span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="white-space: pre; "><span class="Apple-tab-span" style="white-space: pre; "> </span>This eliminates dead skin cells easily, so you can use in lieu of expensive toner. That's all</span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="white-space: pre; ">there is to it!</span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="white-space: pre; "><br /></span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="white-space: pre;"></span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="white-space: pre;">Being beautiful can get expensive and damaging if you're using products often. All I want to do is spend time in my little garden patch and plant new flowers. And it's no wonder! I bought a planted tulip and over the past few days it has just completely opened up and blossomed before my eyes. Gorgeous. Plus, with the new addition of a baby (Lily) to my sisters family, I have been searching for a Lily plant to give them. I wanted to find a super cute pot to put the plant in but have come across nothing. I thought about painting one and here is the simple gem I discovered at <a href="http://cfabbridesigns.com/blog/">Family Chic</a> to help me do just that.</div></span><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;"><img src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgF9qpuFZ3ff0c7N10Cs-Re7HENYYO6RPom-9z7u2TMcgJYr7Tl-SH3HdjWZz-kqktT4rW46v4YqpNPGMLzYsaQx9abIMAa1RzVfVACep0bR7M10AkbCXzv3lhtjrvswrFdY114gX-lsrM/s400/Bent+Can+Planter.jpg" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5576644375044187906" style="display: block; margin-top: 0px; margin-right: auto; margin-bottom: 10px; margin-left: auto; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 400px; height: 349px; " /></div><div>To make these, just grab some old aluminum cans, bang them with a hammer and give them a few coats of paint. Then add some soil and a flower bulb and you are all set!</div><div><br /></div><div><img src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhH5Se2JJPtURwQxrbj482zIMA-Q44dHsPvD8B-UHqa5auesCK_-UM_sqx8-YeHNvCIEz214mMoFPZQ8oY9PBZk9F7zpVwqZgyBvfQoOD_3l91QlPM9N3u3bVJaBCTeedm4uU7IOCSyyKw/s400/Painted+Can+Planter.jpg" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5576645858629114610" style="display: block; margin-top: 0px; margin-right: auto; margin-bottom: 10px; margin-left: auto; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 382px; height: 400px; " /></div><div><br /></div><div>This one was great too! I love the added paint brush hot glued to the side. But it would be just as cute painted any color with the brush left out. All you need is a soup can, your favorite color paint and an old paint brush. Too easy and too sweet.</div>Lindseyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08655911333907697884noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6792278881950550341.post-89494165513263631742011-02-21T05:00:00.000-08:002011-02-21T05:00:17.782-08:00The Thoughts You Think While Thinking<div style="text-align: left;">While I'm in the middle of desperately waiting for my current decoupage project to make sense to me (and for the paint to dry), I found my mind wandering to things of the future. Isn't it always in these moments when we begin to become philosophical? It's the down time, the time when you're not filling you brain or hands with unnecessary tasks that you begin to ponder life's deepest questions. Mine tend to run along these lines: where is my life headed? What does the good Lord have in store for me? Will my children follow in their mommy's footsteps? (oh I hope not) Though they may not seem deep to some of you, they are the ever present thoughts in my mind - and I don't even <i>have</i> those kids yet!</div><div><br />
<div><img alt="" border="0" height="320" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5576022125404237122" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEioEluGkCF4yBqhkw0_IS2JizTR4NGiU6YATBJaMOJFUB9urDd-tAjQ31w9MqMSWRtQjYvnfpO-mOWAln2a2Sbgo222kucmou_I2Sp4UK6BHzpEA1K85MG9U6PGVlT0hOh4X3k1bjs7Izg/s320/DSCF9705.JPG" style="display: block; margin-bottom: 10px; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; margin-top: 0px; text-align: center;" width="240" /></div><div>The future is a scary, yet exciting place for me. I am waiting on the masterful plan of God to unfold before Movie Star and I (which is always thrilling), but it's been a long and frustrating journey. I don't know about you all, but when you're waiting on something that seems hopeless don't you find it hard to jump right out of bed in the morning like a kid on Christmas? Usually <i>my</i> eyes open to a glottal groan as my body rolls off the bed and clumsily stumbles to the coffee pot, hoping for a quick perk. Even after my daily devotional time with my Savior, I still find it hard to slap that bright smile across my wide face. I love my Lord and will wait on him until the end of time (literally), but sometimes the daily drudge is too much to handle.</div><div><br />
</div><div>Now that you know exactly what my morning consists of (and what's in my brain), I'll get to my point. I try to fill my day with things that make my life prettier -hence the site you're visiting- and keep me focused on my tasks at-hand. But it's in the moments that you have to sit still in silence, waiting for the paint on your decoupage'd vase to dry, that you are forced to skip around your little brain garden and prune the flowers that are your thoughts. I know my life will turn out just as it should, as long as I live for my God, treat people with love and respect and always do what's right. But it's hard to imagine a life filled with happiness when you're sitting in an itsy one-bedroom apartment staring at a table filled with bills and a small painted vase.</div><div><br />
</div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="-webkit-text-decorations-in-effect: underline; color: #0000ee;"><img alt="" border="0" height="320" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5576024020153926354" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiJa-7Ws8cKD7HmMG3R0zVKI6xpnfZCanl2F1Jo6orfEVPgq_HAwg2J4Vd8oU09CRvsV9V2sirXiRLdjeeN7k_zSv2FpbdKSyiczFi8tGB7ZH0YnPoJKzJDfZeUVTWPpNr7VZi8Rkg0uYE/s320/DSCF9700.jpg" style="display: block; margin-bottom: 10px; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; margin-top: 0px; text-align: center;" width="291" /></span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="-webkit-text-decorations-in-effect: underline; color: #0000ee;"><br />
</span></div><div>That reminds me! The vase is dry and I've got pretty little roses waiting for me to play with them. Until next time.....</div></div>Lindseyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08655911333907697884noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6792278881950550341.post-47196089159537497072011-02-19T05:00:00.000-08:002011-02-19T05:00:07.492-08:00Featured Wedding of the Week: Old Fashioned Seaside Elegance<div style="text-align: left;"><span class="Apple-tab-span" style="white-space:pre"> </span>It's Saturday, which means one thing. It's another edition of Inspiring Pretty's featured weddings! As always, if you'd like to have your wedding showcased, please submit it to us <a href="http://inspiringpretty.blogspot.com/p/contact-us.html"><b>here</b></a>. Now, onto the prettiness.</div><div><span class="Apple-tab-span" style="white-space:pre"> </span>This week we'll be exploring the classic beauty of a simple, old fashioned seaside affair. This wedding is beaming with natural themes and simple traditions from years ago. Notice the bird decorations and small, simple flower arrangements. There's also gorgeous streamers and feathers, traditions dating back centuries to celebrate the couple as they leave the church. To the left and the right of me are a few people that I will have my eternally fondness. In fact, we are quickly outgrowing our house and our neighbors are one of the main reasons we hesitate to move. We know that the chances of finding neighbors this terrific twice is pretty unlikely, but I digress. <br />
<br />
The reason for this shameless neighbor brag is that one of them has a birthday coming up. Our little Alyse, whom we have watched blossom into a young lady these last six years is turning twelve. Now I could run out and pick up a Target gift card and call it good. But Alyse has recently developed a fascination for unicorns. So I figured a little unicorn hunt on Etsy should yield the perfect present. And boy was I right. I guess I should have known, Etsy and unicorns are like peas and carrots. Here are a few of the highlights.<br />

When my hubby and I first met we put off our first date for a few days after V-Day as not to put too much pressure on it. Now that we are married, we find ourselves tempted to celebrate our love a few days late to avoid the crowds. So there are many years that I wake up on Feb 14 with nothing going on. I don't really mind. With 3 rugrats, I don't have time to wait 2 hours for a table at a mediocre restaurant. (Although, I am starting to think that having our first date on 2/16 was a cleverly devised plan hatched by my hubby to get out of having to deal with the cupid craze.) <br /><br />Yesterday, our friendly neighborhood UPS guy presented me with some very decadent chocolates (from the hubby). They were exponentially sweeter than your average box of chocolate for a few reasons. First off, it was a box of 50-yes 50! handcrafted pieces. Second, it was a from a place that I had tried casually and LOVED-but I didn't think hubby knew about. And third, it was predominantly truffles. <br /><br />This made me swoon because I recently wrote a post about <a href="http://inspiringpretty.blogspot.com/2011/02/valentine-chocolate-delights.html">V-Day chocolates</a>. In it I said that this was one of the only days I could indulge in chocolate with abandon, so he got me A LOT. I also listed the place he bought them from, Mignon Chocolates, as a fave of mine. And I love that he knows that I am crazy about truffles, since it is not a common topic of conversation between us. Most of our convos start off with 'So guess what (fill in son's name here) did today.'<br /><br />In addition to giving him insight into my soul, it appears that this blog has made him want to try a little harder. Because this first two things he asked me was 'Did you take pictures' and 'Are you going to write about it?' I did take pics, after I snuck a few pieces. And of course I'm going to write about it. Not only because I was completely swept off my feet by this simple gesture, but also because I didn't have much else going on this week--save a few monster 4 year old tantrums.<br /><br />So to my dear Alpha, who brought a new kind of happiness into my life 10 years ago--thank you for keeping it up everyday since then. Thank you for giving me three little boys who make my world go 'round. And, thanks for the chocolates, they really are amazing!Bonniehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17848734591554952489noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6792278881950550341.post-70799750933118132342011-02-16T05:00:00.000-08:002011-02-16T05:00:08.903-08:00Handmade Wednesday: Let Your Towels Talk!<div style="text-align: left;">This week, I decided to actually <i><b>make</b></i> the craft I wanted to talk about! What a novel idea. Sometimes I amaze myself. Anyway, my sister is adopting a baby which is due in less than two weeks and so they have had to get their <a href="http://www.nicedwellings.com/2010/05/03/julia-and-geoffs-fixer-upper/">remodeled home</a> completely finished. The last thing they've been working on is their main bathroom. They decided to go with blue and white ..... now I could go into all the details about how they made it look just dandy, but perhaps I'll save that for another time. Right now, I'll just tell you about my project.</div><div><div style="text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: left;">I wanted to give my sister and her husband something that they could put in the bathroom. I also wanted to give them a "Congrats on the Baby" gift. Nothing crazy, but just a little something. I thought about towels but they can be so impersonal (nothing to do with the baby). I decided to make something. And what do you know, a name on a towel came right to me! Making them for my blood sister made me want to make some for Bonnie too and this one here is for her eldest son Aiden. You can also stitch sayings like "Wash your hands!" or "I can tell" if you have kids who fake their hand washing after using the bathroom..... might have to try this.</div></div><div style="text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: left;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="-webkit-text-decorations-in-effect: underline; color: #0000ee;"><img alt="" border="0" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5574117358234720610" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjLoWBEJv1W2SmDHRLmXaahqgtnNd3oUCY1PI0LF067lmIrZUyZ9vnI4nYhIcnWoitLjLabxAgmTlYzAxNGzyX9nhhhQbuZFtZYBHX9ot9fFHLRxwdDrtw6RcfuT_FyBfGgOtZxGhLqWHY/s400/Towel+with+Back-Stitch.jpg" style="cursor: pointer; display: block; height: 365px; margin-bottom: 10px; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; margin-top: 0px; text-align: center; width: 400px;" /></span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="-webkit-text-decorations-in-effect: underline; color: #0000ee;"><br />

<li>Embroidery thread in your choice of color</li>
<li>Embroidery needle</li>
<li>The ability to do a back stitch (watch the video below if you don't know... it's easy)</li>
</ul></div><div><br />
</div><div>Here's How To Do It:</div><div><ul><li>Lay out your towel and lightly pencil the name or words you will be stitching (this will make it easier to stitch)</li>
<li>Pull however many embroidery threads you want to use and thread your needle (<a href="http://www.needlework-tips-and-techniques.com/embroidery-floss.html">easy thread separating vide</a>o)</li>
<li>Begin your needle work and use the backstitch!</li>

And here is my story of discovering something new for myself.</div></div><div><br /></div><div>Recently I was at the 99 cent store (yes folks, you can find things you need or want there) walking down the dish aisle. I glanced at cups and picked up a few plates, but nothing struck my fancy. Then all of the sudden, out of the corner of my eye, there they were: Mason Jars. My heart lit up! I have one mason jar at home which I use as a vase, but to find 15-20 jars just sitting there, waiting to be taken home by little old me was trilling. I wanted to fill my cart with them but before I could do that, I needed to know "Just what am I going to use these for?"</div><div><br /><table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody><tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhkV2PdN8X15BRXWZmDzxgOyFwkAYdsZv4IsqJDOnSDR7kudBotnIhjcjs4Jj8ljY0_avXhINKMpYQdh5J6ipb-4JL0rCVWM4jlhLdCMtVuLmiE5dH0DetAGv3Xyo3WZhSrkMMe4SL1CBfL/s1600/Mason+Jar+Vase.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhkV2PdN8X15BRXWZmDzxgOyFwkAYdsZv4IsqJDOnSDR7kudBotnIhjcjs4Jj8ljY0_avXhINKMpYQdh5J6ipb-4JL0rCVWM4jlhLdCMtVuLmiE5dH0DetAGv3Xyo3WZhSrkMMe4SL1CBfL/s400/Mason+Jar+Vase.jpg" width="400" /></a></td></tr><tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Image: <a href="http://Rubypr.com/">Ruby Press</a></td></tr></tbody></table></div><div>Slowly and sadly, I walked away from the jars quietly praying they would still be there in a few days. I had thought of just buying them and deciding what to use them for later, but over the last few years (where money has been tighter than bark on a tree) I have had to be cautious of over spending. "Just buy what you know you need right now," I have to tell myself. It's a pressure..... Anyway, I came home and searched the internet. Here's what I found!</div><div><br /></div><div><table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody><tr><td style="text-align: center;"><img alt="" border="0" height="400" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5574047913425041154" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiXMpJbrZO0M588v6v0pXr9wDXTOUuLN6jQzanjfQvF6NUF7BtZCw9SiPAflOfZiBjsXslr0Nc6yjmZwByLD8e7c2EwyerfruwZYeDDd0zdu1ppk6U7LoeefLyeJzyu0fw15bG5Hn0HnMc/s400/Mason+Jar+lighting.jpg" style="display: block; margin-bottom: 10px; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; margin-top: 0px; text-align: center;" width="387" /></td></tr><tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color:#0000ee;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size:small;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style=" ;font-size:small;color:black;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size:13px;">Image: <a href="http://www.bethhelmstetterblog.com/2010/08/surya-nick-get-hitched-basalt-colorado.html">Beth Helmstetter</a></span></span></span></span></td></tr></tbody></table>Making this seems like a piece of work, but with the tips I found at <a href="http://asubtlerevelry.com/">asubtlerevelry.com</a>, it may not be as hard as it looks. Just grab your buff man or that handsome guy next door you've been dying to talk to. Trust me, if he's at all interested in you, he'll be all too happy to help and show of his muscles. In additon to those rough hands, you'll need a large piece of wood, mason jars, tea lights and heavy rope. Then all you have to do is cut holes in the wood (that's where the handsome man comes in), put the tea lights in the mason jars, slip the jars into the wooden holes and tie on the rope. Classic and simply gorgeous!</div><div><br /></div><div>For more Mason Jar lighting tips, head to <a href="http://www.designspongeonline.com/2008/06/diy-project-whitneys-mason-jar-lights.html">Design*Sponge</a> one of the sites on our blogroll. </div><div><br /></div><table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody><tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjI2Ec0CNCZ-p3kqwN6T6F4BWujDInMl7H1XXHl6RjlcQOQpbjJYdtDofmrmKQ1YdJWGbwKUwo4soDg6Z_aBFGvgAiB1ySpwEItxzyHhFMpEUoB4Ro3EviaAYSjiQsUwn7cBBOUcvkQkJjG/s1600/Mason+Jar+Storage.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjI2Ec0CNCZ-p3kqwN6T6F4BWujDInMl7H1XXHl6RjlcQOQpbjJYdtDofmrmKQ1YdJWGbwKUwo4soDg6Z_aBFGvgAiB1ySpwEItxzyHhFMpEUoB4Ro3EviaAYSjiQsUwn7cBBOUcvkQkJjG/s400/Mason+Jar+Storage.jpg" width="286" /></a></td></tr><tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Image: <a href="http://Printnest.com/">Print Nest</a></td></tr></tbody></table><div>Oh my..... Use mason jars for craft storage? Yes please. After staring at this photo and trying figure out just how they did it, I stopped (cause I was getting nowhere) and asked Movie Star. Outside of his name, he is also quite a handy fellow. He told me they just screwed in a clamp. A what? If you are as daft as me when it comes to stuff like this, here are two options you can try at Home Depot. If you use a <a href="http://www.homedepot.com/h_d1/N-5yc1v/R-202043270/h_d2/ProductDisplay?langId=-1&storeId=10051&catalogId=10053">2-Hole Clamp</a> it's pretty obvious how you screw it to the wall. If you use <a href="http://www.homedepot.com/h_d1/N-5yc1v/R-100157678/h_d2/ProductDisplay?langId=-1&storeId=10051&catalogId=10053">Stainless Steal Clamps</a>, Movie Star said that it would be screwed behind the mason jar and then tightened in the front.</div><div><br /></div><table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody><tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiC7cWYeRnuTHCSBBXf0owGnfRx4RaaP3PozfIiV72WrG0xXvAn1s4_571g0FxmdoLGM-KzaIt2Qn9gRRop5A7y4vWQIih2w0MCLgI-t3SEgP8jXoE63otPVFRgjaeVUg-p3FuCRWqpDgo3/s1600/Mason+Jar+picture+frame.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiC7cWYeRnuTHCSBBXf0owGnfRx4RaaP3PozfIiV72WrG0xXvAn1s4_571g0FxmdoLGM-KzaIt2Qn9gRRop5A7y4vWQIih2w0MCLgI-t3SEgP8jXoE63otPVFRgjaeVUg-p3FuCRWqpDgo3/s1600/Mason+Jar+picture+frame.jpg" /></a></td></tr><tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Image: <a href="http://PaulJohnsonPhotgraphy.com/">Paul Johnson</a></td></tr></tbody></table><div>I am going to be 100% honest with you right now: This is my favorite idea and the one I'm <i>going</i> to do. I have alway loved pictures and this seems like a cool, vintage way to display them all over!</div><div><br /></div><div>Needless to say, I'm going back to that good ol' 99 cent store to pick out my mason jars. Have fun with yours!</div>Lindseyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08655911333907697884noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6792278881950550341.post-73236102107662053472011-02-14T16:00:00.000-08:002011-02-15T11:31:51.578-08:00When a Man Loves a Woman<div style="text-align: left;">I love my husband. I love him to tears. This morning I woke up to a few things that I expected but reminded me of just how much this man of mine means to me.</div><div><br /></div><div><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 300px; height: 400px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhOYBgbvvuna8ziyinYwf-BTVSE81eK6zm-T9F7CWhQT_UgBScvSz8uoIYHda2pzmox5C0S6EvnYYWUJFIoB-q8HSMj-UsKOP8Xo_jWMcRIiW2subyH3FMkHguoL9XTPsP5tSii9GnBEkc/s400/DSCF9722.JPG" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5573702436356524562" /><div> Every V-Day, Movie Star gives me flowers and a card. Pretty standard for today, but this morning was a little different. Those roses there are from the climbing rose bushes outside our apartment building. Okay, you say. So what? Well, I'm telling you! Climbing roses are my absolute favorite and every time the Spring comes around, I get so excited to watch them reach their full bloom. </div><div><br /></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: rgb(0, 0, 238); -webkit-text-decorations-in-effect: underline; "><img src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgFmU1MYge6PqHKXTYApz2oyITnUeIYUFgknnjWg8rU9IVtEuBmS_31cxtDts_e4KcLOvJdhr9ktvXUJYFu-m6ILq4fEgdQW0TgxVm28zjlbWansGmLrAygwNtT11-pbaV9z5QYMNF8jIk/s400/DSCF9728.jpg" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5573713575928486866" style="display: block; margin-top: 0px; margin-right: auto; margin-bottom: 10px; margin-left: auto; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 361px; height: 400px; " /></span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: rgb(0, 0, 238); -webkit-text-decorations-in-effect: underline; "><br /></span></div><div>Over the past few weeks, as they have begun this transformation, I have oo'd and aw'd over the loveliness I see from my kitchen window. So waking up to a few of them lying on the dining room table said so much to me:</div><div><br /></div><div>"I pay attention to the words you speak." </div><div>"I know you love pretty things, and desire to bring those things <i>to</i> you."</div><div>"I'd rather give you flowers that have meaning, than spend money on one's that don't."</div><div>"Because I took my time to choose and pluck each little rose, my time is not more valuable than your smile."</div><div><br /></div><div>And then there's the card. Most greeting cards these days are cheesy or full of prewritten poetry. Though you can find cards which express how you're feeling, sometimes it comes across impersonal. In fact, I couldn't even find one for Movie Star this year! I had to take a blank card and make it my own. Anyway, in Movie Star's card it was the few simple words I saw in his terrible handwriting that struck my heart: "All I can guarantee is that I love you and you will always be happy no matter where we are and no matter what we are doing." He and I have been through a big hot mess the last two years and we simply can't see a way out. By him telling me this, he is saying that he will do anything and everything he can to make sure I'm happy every day.</div><div><br /></div><div>But don't get the wrong idea about this guy. When he gets mushy he gets uncomfortable too, so he has to add something funny to it. After I told him about the <a href="http://inspiringpretty.blogspot.com/2011/02/thursday-throwback-valentines-cards.html">Vintage Valentine's Cards</a> I was going to write about we laughed hysterically at one of them (the very last one). So at the bottom of the card he wrote:</div><div><br /></div><div>"P.S. Fork over your heart....." I laughed until I cried. Then I gave him a big kiss.</div><div><br /></div><div>What a man......</div></div>Lindseyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08655911333907697884noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6792278881950550341.post-40660526087091133152011-02-14T10:48:00.000-08:002011-02-14T10:49:12.427-08:00Valentine's Day As A MommyValentine's Day takes on a whole different meaning when you're a mommy (I define mommy as having kids under the age of 5, after that you just become 'Mom'). You rarely get to go out to dinner or the movies, or make grand romantic gestures. And you find the card that professes your undying love to your spouse looking like this if you leave it out in the open.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi5gW5t3UaToZ7bU7SxHCywieLt0qEF5t7ZyZ6MPDK1ucoRWHBRRIN_uLCimvpo9op9svyoEheP5T3NskFVc7YUVLafz6bHSQjhu8jSeFSjzM6VB5V_dj7ZcWZUKnnPa2czJQ8JhIVIcpeA/s1600/043.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" h5="true" height="213" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi5gW5t3UaToZ7bU7SxHCywieLt0qEF5t7ZyZ6MPDK1ucoRWHBRRIN_uLCimvpo9op9svyoEheP5T3NskFVc7YUVLafz6bHSQjhu8jSeFSjzM6VB5V_dj7ZcWZUKnnPa2czJQ8JhIVIcpeA/s320/043.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>But as hard as it to let go of those blissful V-days of the past, a Mommy Valentine's Day comes with its own rewards. <br />

You get to make silly valentines and treat bags that no childless adult could get away with.<br />

So although I miss the quiet nights and the candlelit dinners, I suppose they can wait until I graduate to the older-kid Mom status. I know that I will have a super sweet guy still waiting to sweep me off my feet.Bonniehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17848734591554952489noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6792278881950550341.post-944959719964147922011-02-14T05:00:00.000-08:002011-02-14T13:13:27.083-08:00Wedding Trends: Veils<div style="text-align: center;"><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj9ZF37yZIuciKqnfhH8QneqvqEeoAKgCg8FzeeD-n93ZLf4LHpFIeZQetgRFRteWX_v45v33q6fLHg_c75UUhQUgGMwQ6OyWFgVVLJYPOOaKo7zI-ZBEVgaEmDvouUUj8LRZGJAmeasyY/s1600/bride+holding+veil.jpg"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 214px; height: 320px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj9ZF37yZIuciKqnfhH8QneqvqEeoAKgCg8FzeeD-n93ZLf4LHpFIeZQetgRFRteWX_v45v33q6fLHg_c75UUhQUgGMwQ6OyWFgVVLJYPOOaKo7zI-ZBEVgaEmDvouUUj8LRZGJAmeasyY/s320/bride+holding+veil.jpg" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5573449273964296210" /></a></div><span class="Apple-tab-span" style="white-space:pre"> </span>Hello again! Moving back to fashion, I've decided to talk about veils. As the saying goes, the bride is the focus of the wedding, therefore, each element that comprises the beauty of the bride on her special day is important. One of the most notable accessories that the bride wears is the veil. In most recent years, the veil has gone to the wayside in place of a tiara, head wreath, headband or nothing altogether. As classic elegance reemerges though, the veil overwhelming does as well. Don't expect the see a run of the mill sheer lace sheet draped around the bride to her waist, though. Vintage is coming back in way of lace and exceptional style.<div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: rgb(0, 0, 238); -webkit-text-decorations-in-effect: underline; "><img src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi26r6XUjLr2xkVqmk2SVxX6s-rtA9-_nERVyVPBdEX-p4LNvuKlFkS35aiZQziuP9v0SdHPyUCPII50KzaXqmuiG1HvK-sc8zluAgTCIglMRxTJULreA08DjCm3rIU37uQ-szuFC8VZBA/s320/bride+wearing+birdcage+veil.jpg" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5573449582890243026" style="display: block; margin-top: 0px; margin-right: auto; margin-bottom: 10px; margin-left: auto; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 244px; height: 320px; " /></span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: rgb(0, 0, 238); -webkit-text-decorations-in-effect: underline; "></span><div><span class="Apple-tab-span" style="white-space:pre"> </span>The most trending veil now is the birdcage. It's worn in 2 main styles known as the blusher and the Russian or fishnet. Taken straight out of the 1940's, the birdcage is definitive classic style. The birdcage acknowledges the tradition of the veil but has the flair only found in the first half of the 20th century. The blusher serves as a veil more than the Russian. It's covers the bride's face, but to varying lengths. It reaches usually to the nose or chin. </div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: rgb(0, 0, 238); -webkit-text-decorations-in-effect: underline; "><img src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhPd8IZuEJabLNEH-Bu6qWHVRsE8xXxkXs9av3GFPO-qbBMif2JqiVhCXi_Z24yfcvde5b1nigRsLTrPP-hHcAEOD17ZyuHPNiKv_gLwXeeAz8WE9CCERh6TrhcTst_eWsvZT6qp54QKek/s320/bride+wearing+russian+veil.jpg" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5573449974854177298" style="display: block; margin-top: 0px; margin-right: auto; margin-bottom: 10px; margin-left: auto; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 320px; height: 214px; " /></span></div><div><span class="Apple-tab-span" style="white-space:pre"> </span>As more women are opting for more originality though, the Russian is used more and more. Brides are opting to wear a veil more as a hair accessory than a garment. This means shortening the length and the angle and the overall purpose of it. The Russian is worn at an angle and covers usually only the eyes, forehead or sometimes only the hair. This style is also derived from the early 1900's. The fad for a vintage yet trendy bride would most likely be to wear a Russian veil angled to cover her forehead and one eye. This trend pays homage to classic traditions while being original in doing so.</div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: rgb(0, 0, 238); -webkit-text-decorations-in-effect: underline; "><img src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgjBnUrzVPRNjjPgoJgaHJAVKbwiHM_H4aksIZ8uBCWZccsRhgxXolIYnwCmbfhMFfhVGv0bO6-qgrOlZ109TU_M32ik5dFPj2WQnoKrb8SelSwSKgZ8D3tCBvmcG7I0ldRPU35cEVPaiE/s320/bride+in+mantilla+veil+smiling+with+groom.png" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5573450893387176242" style="display: block; margin-top: 0px; margin-right: auto; margin-bottom: 10px; margin-left: auto; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 320px; height: 224px; " /></span></div><div><span class="Apple-tab-span" style="white-space:pre"> </span>It's obvious that I do love the birdcage look, but that doesn't count me out for liking other veils as well. The main difference between remaining veils is their length, except one type, which happens to also be becoming increasingly popular. This is the Mantilla veil. What this veil boasts all others is intricate lacy design, which falls into the return of classic elegance. Mantilla veils can come in any length, but are now usually worn to the waist, or shoulders. They also come with decorations hemming the edges of the veil or covering the entire veil. It's derived from Spanish/Mexican weddings, but the intricate lace beauty is actually very elegant simplicity from another era. </div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: rgb(0, 0, 238); -webkit-text-decorations-in-effect: underline; "><img src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjHyDkr6wdNaf57d5K4MSEDgSqrCmxv1TYffCpImjn4EOX4482k6cjaopYSA5ZSZ569wHXmdBULfIl_qhVOVtK1w6Kh2zXv8KlmJ8Eoi6AMEnUVS0jpKrkx0vc9k8yYnV9b364mfbqzonA/s320/lace+mantilla+veil+for+bride+at+wedding.jpg" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5573451243959133714" style="display: block; margin-top: 0px; margin-right: auto; margin-bottom: 10px; margin-left: auto; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 213px; height: 320px; " /></span></div><div><span class="Apple-tab-span" style="white-space:pre"> </span>Vintage is the ruling force over veil trends right now and I couldn't love it more. The trend is to look to traditions and fashion since forgotten and for new originality and a clue in on true traditions, and as I said, I couldn't love it more.</div></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: rgb(0, 0, 238); -webkit-text-decorations-in-effect: underline; "><img src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhK3AXWZ97rR2P22Ez7cyb3I1G56agt2DXM7yI7Pr3E1echBZCpXEkyPEJ5GHh5e5ogwYJzYCygn-l-vaY4csKXYXt4a_V6mo-nmESktT_Zbl-KegCk8lLfAX2X6bfKtNK1kydOZIjYMGE/s320/bride+wearing+russian+birdcage+veil+at+wedding.png" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5573451651815955826" style="display: block; margin-top: 0px; margin-right: auto; margin-bottom: 10px; margin-left: auto; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 320px; height: 311px; " /></span></div>Clairehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13424819524217161766noreply@blogger.com1
