Not So Typical Super Bowl Snack Recipes

The Super Bowl is a time for gluttony. It is a single day that exists for Americans to binge on food in the glory of competition. Unlike holidays, the main courses are junk food appetizers rather than gourmet courses. If you want more than a bag of potato chips, pork rinds and dip, here are some recipess for guaranteed Super Bowl winners.
Cheese Potato Bacon Skins and Dip
- 4 potatoes with skin
- 2 cups of shredded cheddar cheese
- 1/2 cup chopped sweet pickles
- 6 strips of chopped bacon (already cooked)
- 1 cup sour cream
- 1/4 cup horseradish
- 1 tbsp dijon mustard
- 1 tsp sugar

1.) Cut potatoes into quarters. Scoops out majority of potato inside leaving a small lining on the skin. You'll use the potatoes later.
2.) Bake skins at 475º for 10-15 minutes, until crispy.
3.) Mix together pickles, cheese, bacon and potato. Pour the mixture into the skins and cook for 5 minutes.
4.) Mix together sour cream, horseradish, dijon mustard and sugar to create dip.
5.) Serve!
Zucchini Fries and Garlic Dip
- 2 zucchinis
- 1 egg white
- 1/4 cup milk
- 1/2 cup shredded parmesan cheese
- 1/2 cup seasoned breadcrumbs
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 1/2 cup mayonnaise
- 1/2 package of ranch salad dressing
- 1 clove of garlic
- 1/4 tsp oregano

1.) Chop zucchinis into 3-inch pieces.
2.) Whisk egg white and milk in bowl.
3.) Mix parmesan and breadcrumbs in separate bowl.
4.) Dip zucchini pieces into milk and egg then roll in Parmesan and breadcrumb mix.
5.) Bake on cookie sheet for 20-30 minutes at 425º.
6.) Mix buttermilk, mayonnaise, ranch, garlic and oregano in a bowl to create dip.
7.) Enjoy!
Sweet Potato Fries and Honey Spice Dip
- 1 tbsp brown sugar
- 2 1/2 tsps cinnamon
- 1/2 tsp ginger
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 2 lbs sweet potatoes
- 1 tbsp canola oil
- 1/2 cup sour cream
- 1/2 cup plain yogurt
- 1 tbsp honey

1.) Mix brown sugar, 2 tbsp cinnamon, ginger and salt together.
2.) Skin and chop potatoes into shoestring slices.
3.) Toss potatoes in oil in bowl.
4.) Add mixture from step one into bowl of potatoes and cover the potatoes well.
5.) Bake on cookie sheet for 30-35 minutes. Turn halfway through baking.
6.) Mix sour cream, yogurt, honey and 1/2 cinnamon into small bowl to create dip.
7.) Enjoy!
Caramelized Onion Focaccia
- 2 tbsp butter
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 2 chopped onions
- 8 slices of provolone cheese
- 1 loaf of focaccia bread
- a dash of salt and pepper

1.) Melt butter and olive oil in skillet. Cook onions in it from 15-20 minutes until caramelized. Sprinkle salt and pepper on.
2.) Cut focaccia in half lengthwise.
3.) Line focaccia with a few pieces of cheese. Place onions on top of cheese. Put remaining cheese on top of onions.
4.) Bake for 15-20 minutes until all cheese is melted.
5.) Cut into wedges and serve!
Sausage Balls
- 1 lb Italian sausage
- 2 cups shredded colby cheese
- 1 beaten egg
- 2 cups biscuit mix
- dash of cayenne pepper
- 1/4 cup cocktail sauce
- 1/4 cup chili sauce

1.) Mix uncooked sausage, cheese, egg, cayenne and biscuit mix in bowl.
2.) Bake on cookie sheet for 15-20 minutes at 375º. Turn balls halfway through.
3.) Mix cocktail sauce and chili sauce together to create sauce.
4.) Eat up!
